Soul to Soles Services

Soul to Soles Connection offers ground-based mental health treatment, with horses, for FREE at our private 40-acre farm in Mooresville, NC

While riding and horsemanship are beneficial, it can obscure the primary mechanism which makes mental health with horses so effective – the horse’s natural, unfiltered, and unbiased response to the client’s psychological material (behavior, thoughts, feelings, attitudes). There is a freedom to move, connect and be present.

“Equine Therapy (mental health with horses) has shown to be effective in treating patients, including combat veterans, with PTSD, depression, anxiety, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, conduct disorders and other chronic mental illnesses.”

The Journal of the American Medical Association

EMDR with Horses Sessions:

Participants will receive 8) 60-minute ground based EMDR counseling sessions with horses. Participants are agreeing to commit to 8 sessions resulting in optimum effectiveness.

EMDR is a therapeutic tool that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.  During EMDR, the therapist works with the client to identify a specific problem as the focus of the treatment session. The client calls to mind the disturbing issue/event, what was seen, felt, heard, thought, as well as what thoughts and beliefs are currently held about that event. This type of therapy encourages the client to briefly focus on a traumatic memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (movement using both hands and engaging both sides of the brain), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories.  The horses provide a unique support/resource for clients while processing these difficult memories/experiences, often providing an even deeper level of healing of trauma.

Reiki Sessions

Enhance your body’s healing ability and release the blocks that are hindering your highest potential. Reiki is a safe, non-invasive form of natural energy-based healing. Release the stored energy of life by embracing a state of deep relaxation. Emotional responses are suppressed to help us survive, and now is your time to heal and thrive!

Reiki is utilized in healing all over the world, including in every-day-life, hospitals, hospices, and even in the Military for PTSD, to complement other forms of health treatments. Reiki does not replace the care physician or a psychotherapist. It does complement other types of treatment options as it increases the efficacy of healing.

Reiki sessions are 60 minutes and can be experienced in the office, on different locations around the farm, OR even from a distance. Clients lie on a massage table fully clothed, as Katie gently places her hands, on or just above your body. Reiki always works for your highest good, never causing harm.
